Welcome and Call to Order
President Nesbit called the meeting to order at 7:01 pm.
The Pledge of Allegiance, Circle K Pledge and Motto were recited.
Officers, Advisors, Guest Introduction, and Committee Chair report

Treasurer Divjak had nothing to report. addivjak@wisc.edu
Secretary Johnson sent around service binder and attendance, as well as service hour totals for all club members from April through December. Our club total right now is 1575 hours. Keep up the good work!! mljohnson9@wisc.edu

-Sent around a sign up for club t-shirts for $10. The club voted on whether they wanted to keep the clow design or if they preferred just a basic t-shirt that said UW Madison Circle K. The basic design won the vote, so we will no longer be ordering the cow t-shirt. The money is due Feb 11 to Angela. Checks can be made out to UW Madison Circle K. If you have already paid, and do not want a t-shirt anymore now that it will not be the cow design, Angela can refund your money.

-Next weeks meeting is our Spring Kick-off. We will be doing Buddy or a Buck, which means you should either bring a potential member, or a dollar which will be donated to the Tomorrow Fund
- Kiwanis Meeting this Monday. Andrea will be attending, so if you are interested in enjoying a free lunch and a presentation about youth choirs, meet her inside the UW Bookstore at 11:30.
B. Kiwanis: Shelly and Stan were both in attendance. Kiwanis meetings are every Monday from 11:45-1 at First Methodist Church. Any club member is welcome to attend any of these meetings and get to know our great sponsoring Kiwanis Club!
III. Old Business
a.Wil-mar Cookie Baking
On Friday afternoon 5 members got together at Katy and Kellys apartment to bake 200 cookies to take to Wilmar on Saturday.
b. Wil-mar Neighborhood Center
The Kiwanis Club prepares and serves lunch at this neighborhood center on 953 Jenifer St. Five club members attended and helped serve the delicious meal the Kiwanians cooked up. Megan did a great job serving the main dish with a foot and a half foot long spoon.
c. Welcome Back Social-Ice Skating at the Shell and Pizza!!
On Sunday, January 25, we had a club social! We went to the Shell to ice skate. Afterwards, we went for pizza at Rocky Roccocos on Regent. Twelve or thirteen club members attended the social and we all had a great time.
IV. Current Business
a. Basketball Game Concessions
We need two volunteers to work at every home basketball game. If you are signed up for a game, please make sure you attend or contact someone to make sure there is a substitute. To sign up, contact Rose, rlcywinski@wisc.edu. There are a few games left that need people to attend. If you are available to help at any of these, let Rose know.
b. Student Org Fair
The Spring Student Org Fair will be held on Thursday, Jan 29 in the Great Hall Memorial Union. Set-up starts at 4:30 and the fair goes until about 8. This event drew a ton of members in the fall and we hope it will do the same this semester. If you are interested in helping to recruit new members, plan on coming to the org fair! It will be held on various areas on the second and fourth floor because the Great Hall is being refloored. Look for our booth or check at the registration desk to find out where we are!
c. Movie Night
Social Chair Kelly Vis announced a movie night at her and Katys apartment on Friday, Jan 30 for anyone who is interested in hanging out and watching a movie! They discussed possibly going to the Union to see Lost in Translation at 9:30. Their apartment is in the Roundhouse, right on the beginning of Langdon, apartment 305.
d. Capital Division Rally
LTG Monica will be hosting a rally at UW Platteville on Saturday, Jan 31. It will consist of making fleece blankets for LT Governors Cuddles Project. The blankets will be donated to humane societies for abandoned animals. There will also be a workshop to rate your leadership style as well as a fun social, possibly sledding if weather permits!! The rally will be in the afternoon at 1, let Andrea know if you are interested in attending, there are already a few cars going, so it will be easy to find a ride! We will be leaving at 11:30.
e. Kick Off Service Project
On Saturday, February 7, we will be doing another kick-off service project with the YWCA. The kids will be going to the Civic Center to see a story teller, and the our club will be taking them! Those going will meet around 11:45 on campus and walk to the YWCA together to pick up the kids at 12:30.
f. Kites on Ice
Kites on Ice takes place on Lake Mendota from Friday Feb 6 through the 8. There are a number of volunteer opportunites available throughout the weekend. All volunteers receive a t-shirt, hot chocolate, and a hotdog. Visit the website at www.madfest.org for more information and to register for a shift. When you enter the Kites on Ice portion of the website, there is an option on the side panel that says want to volunteer? Just click that and you will be taken to a form to register. g. Winter Weekend Getaway
Winter Weekend Getaway is a district event up in Houghton Michiganat MTU. IT is Feb 13-14 and costs $20, which included meals and a cool t-shirt. Friday night is just a fun K-Family bonding night and Saturday involves a ton of winter funincluding snowshoeing, skiing, ice skating, etc. If you arent into winter sports, there is other stuff to do as well
h. UW-Oshkosh Charter Party
UW-Oshkosh will be hosting a Charter Party on Saturday, February 21. It will be a dinner from 6-8pmthe cost is 10-15 dollars. If you are interested in going, you have to RSVP by Friday, Feb 6. Andrea and Kelly are planning on attending, so let them know if you want to go. They are trying to get 4 people to attend so it will count as an interclub (which occurs when four or more people from one club attend another clubs activities..it works with both other circle ks as well as other members of the k family)
V. New Business
a. Habitat for Humanities Souper Bowl
This event will be held on Saturday, Jan 31 from 4 until 8 at West high school. Volunteers are needed to help in many areas. They will be selling bowls made by local artists that are full of soup. The money raised will be used toward building a house. Each house constructed costs about $60,000 and the Dane County Habitat for Humanities will match any money raised by the UW Madison club, so their goal is to raise $30,000 this year. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Kate at kmkovach@wisc.edu. If you arent able to volunteer, but are going to be around on Saturday, stop by and buy a bowl to support the Habitat for Humanities!
b. Easter Seals Mailings Help
The Madison West Kiwanis will be preparing mailings on Monday, February 2 at 6:30. Monica is planning on going, if you would like to go along, contact her at masiebers@wisc.edu
c. Emerson Family Science Night
Emerson Elementary is holding a Science night on Tuesday, Feb 3. They would like three or four of our members to come serve pizza from 5 until around 6:15. If you are interested in helping out, email Andrea, alnesbit@wisc.edu
d. YWCA Fun With Science Night
On Thursday, Feb 5, we will be going to the YWCA to help the kids pot plants in the pots they made at our kick-off service projects. The pots will be used as prizes for Bingo at a senior citizens home later in the year. The kids will also be making Terrariums in two liter soda bottles, so if you have any, save them. Katy is unable to attend, so if you are interested in going and would like to lead the kids in this activity, email her at wheeliegirl_84@hotmail.com
e. Penny War
Bring your pennies to be donated to Camp Baycliff. There will be a penny war between Key Club, Circle K, and Kiwanis at Kiwanis Mid-Winter Convention on Feb 7. So bring your pennies to the meeting and give them to Andrea!
f. Polar Plunge
The Polar Plunge will be on Sat. Feb 21 at noon at Olin Park. If you want to jump, you have to register by Feb. 6. To volunteer, you can either contact Megan or register to volunteer on your own on your website.
g. WE will be running the Kiwanis Meeting
On Monday Feb. 16, we will be running the Kiwanis meeting. We need a number of members to help out, so if you are available from 11:30 until 1:20, think about coming and helping. There will be a presentation and slide show about Circle K.
h. Making dinner for the Ronald McDonald House
On Monday, Feb 16, we will be making dinner at the Ronald McDonald House. A maximum of 10 members are needed to help prepare the meal. It will be served at 6, so we will go earlier than that to prepare the meal. Look for more details and a sign up at a later date.
i Club officer nominations
In four weeks, we will be having club officer nominations. If you are considering running for a position, you can get a booklet explaining all the positions from andrea. However, the best way to get a feel for what each board position entails is to talk to the current officers. So feel free to shoot any of us and email or talk to us at the meetings, we would love to tell you exactly what we do and how much time we put in.
j. Club Vote
The club will vote on new officers at the March 3rd Meeting. We need 51% of the members presentso PLEASE come to this meeting and put your input towards our new officers.
VI. District Convention!! (Wisconsin-Upper Michigan) March 19-21.
This weekend represents the culmination of a year in Circle K. It is a ton of fun and a great way to meet other Circle Kers. The weekend involves games and fun, as well as some business. The task of convention is to vote for new district officers and to give out awards for the past year.
WHERE: Wintergreen Resort, Wisconsin Dells
THEME: Service Olympics
COST: Registration is $65. Kiwanis has provided $780 which will be divided amongst all those who attend. Each hotel room houses four people and costs $25.93 per person per night.
The deadline to register at the $65 rate is January 31.
YOUR REGISTRATION MUST BE POSTMARKED JANUARY 31 IN ORDER TO REGISTER AT THE $65 COST!!

If UW Madison adopted a new mascot, what would you want it to be?
