1. Dane County Youth Walk
Monica explained that the walk committee would like to hire a part time person to promote the walk in order to increase participation. They are looking for donations that would go towards that persons pay. Monica suggested that we consider donating $100 from our service account which currently has a balance of $1008. We will discuss at next weeks meeting how much, if anything, we should donate to that
alnesbit@wisc.edu
B. Kiwanis: There is no Kiwanis meeting this Monday because the awards banquet is that night, but the next week, committee reports will take place at the meeting and a representative from circle k is encouraged to come.
-Also, Stan read us a little bit about the history of the motto, We Build. If you missed the meeting, but are interested in hearing more about this, Im sure Stan wouldnt mind if you emailed him and asked. His email address is scravens@execpc.com.
LTG: district board is looking for a special events chair. The position runs from December to December and involves planning fun circle K events like MAC, Spring Fling, etc.
Also, Justin Hahn is promoting a snuggles project to collect new or slightly used blankets for animals in shelters so they have something warm to cuddle with. Keep this in mind if you have any blankets around!
C. Homecoming Float Committee: Meet at 4:30 in Memorial Union Parking lot if interested in helping on Thursday night to assemble the float.
If interested in walking in the parade, meet by 5:30 to ride on it.
D. Attend 3 out of 4 meetings raffle: 12 new members have qualified for the raffle. The drawing for a $20 certificate to Steve and Barrys will be held on October 22!! Everyone in this raffle is a winner because even the people who dont receive the gift certificate will still receive a cool Circle K item!
E. Member Induction Ceremony and Social: Will be on Wednesday, November 12 instead of a regular club meeting. The club voted between a Chinese buffet, roller/ice skating, and pizza. The hands down winner was Chuck E Cheese, so that will be where our social will be held. It is $6 per person for 2 slices of pizza, soda, and 20 tokens. Monica suggested the great idea of pooling tickets and trying to get a toy to donate to the YWCA, so anyone who is interested can get in on that as well. It should be a lot of fun, so hopefully everyone will attend!!
Old Business
a. MAC
Everyone who attended MAC had a great time. On Saturday they did a variety of service projects around the camp including some physical labor moving everything back into the Crafts building at respite camp, prairie restoration, highway cleanup, and staining campsite shelters. The auction on Saturday night was also a success, raising $2565 for Easter Seals. Our club bought NMU and Eau Claires mascots, so four members from their clubs will need to attend our meeting to get them back. Also, Janet bought our mascot, so four members will have to go to Topeka to reclaim it.
